BREATHWORK WITH PAMELA MUIR
You already know how to breathe. You’ve been doing it your whole life. But conscious connected breathwork takes that constant companion and turns it into something transformational. Available in person in Nairn and online.
The breath has always been there. We just forgot to listen to it.
For millennia, peoples across the globe have recognised the power of the breath for healing, connection, and spiritual and personal growth. Conscious connected breathwork is one of the most accessible and profound ways to tap into that power.
The technique is simple in principle. You breathe in a continuous, circular flow, with no pause between the in-breath and the out-breath. That’s it. But what happens when you do it, really do it, can be extraordinary.
In engaging with the breath in this way, we can calm the nervous system, process grief, loss and trauma, develop body awareness, tune into emotions, find new meanings in the answers to questions that have felt just out of reach, move through periods of stuckness, and learn to relax fully and deeply in the present moment.
I have practiced breathwork daily since my own accident in 2013. It changed things for me in ways that are difficult to put into words. That is why I trained as a facilitator, and why I am genuinely passionate about sharing this with others..
AREAS OF SPECIALIST SUPPORT
Breathwork is for everyone. You don’t need a reason to start.
Some people come to breathwork with a specific issue they want to work through. Others come purely for relaxation and self-care, with no particular agenda. Both are equally welcome.
I work with the breath across all the same areas I work with in counselling, and the two can be offered separately or together depending on what feels right for you.
Neurodiversity
Menopause
Disabilities
Miscarriage
Suicidal thoughts
Work-related stress
Attachment issues
Relaxation and self-care
Anxiety
Grief and bereavement
Trauma
Abuse
Low self-esteem
Insomnia
Chronic fatigue
High sensitivity
If what you’re looking for isn’t on that list, please get in touch. The list is never exhaustive.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What actually happens in a breathwork session.
Each session is completely unique. Typically we will begin by connecting your breath, breathing gently and fully through either the nose or the mouth in that continuous circular flow.
You may experience a range of things. Deep relaxation. A strong desire for movement. Emotional release, whether that’s sadness, fear, joy, anger, or something that doesn’t have a name yet. Strong visual imagery or colours. All of it is welcome, all of it is normal, and all of it is something we work with together.
Sessions are interactive. You will have opportunities to share your experience with me both during and after the breathwork, and we will work together to integrate anything that comes up into your life going forward.
Very occasionally clients experience some tingling or clenching in the hands or feet. This is a natural response to changes in CO2 levels and is nothing to be concerned about. If it happens, I will guide you to slow your breath and it passes quickly.
My role as facilitator is to create a safe, supportive space, help you connect with your intention for the session, guide you into discovering your own unique conscious connected breath, and to be a non-judgmental, compassionate companion throughout.
INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SESSIONS
One to one and group breathwork.
I offer breathwork as an individual therapy or in conjunction with person-centred counselling, whatever feels most useful for your circumstances.
I also facilitate regular group breathwork sessions. These are a wonderful way to experience the practice in community with others.
PRACTICALITIES
How it works in practice.
Sessions are two hours long and cost £100. I offer an initial free 20-minute telephone consultation so we can explore what you’d like to gain from breathwork, talk through the process, and make sure we’re a good fit before we begin.
Sessions are available in person at my counselling bothy at Moyness House, just outside Auldearn near Nairn, or online. I work with clients across Scotland and the UK.

Frequently asked questions about grief counselling
-
Conscious connected breathwork is a breathing technique where you maintain a continuous, circular flow of breath with no pause between the inhale and exhale. It is one of the most powerful and accessible ways to access deep states of relaxation, process difficult emotions, and develop a greater connection with yourself.
-
None at all. You literally already know how to breathe. I will guide you through the technique at the start of every session and we go at your pace throughout.
-
They are different practices, though both involve turning inward and working with the mind and body. Breathwork tends to be more active and can produce more immediate physical and emotional effects. Some people find it easier to access than meditation precisely because the breath gives you something concrete to focus on.
-
Yes, and many clients find the two work beautifully together. Counselling works with the mind through talking. Breathwork works with the body through the breath. Together they offer a more complete picture. We can discuss what combination might work best for you in the initial consultation.
-
That depends entirely on what you’re looking for and what feels right to you. Some people are drawn to breathwork immediately. Others prefer to start with counselling and introduce breathwork later. Some do both from the beginning. There is no right answer. The free consultation is a good opportunity to talk it through.
