NEURODIVERSITY AND HIGH SENSITIVITY COUNSELLING
Counselling that works with how your mind actually works. With Pamela Muir, available in person in Nairn and online across the UK.
Counselling for neurodivergent people and highly sensitive people.
If you have spent a lifetime feeling like you are too much, too intense, too sensitive, or just somehow wired differently to everyone around you, you are not alone. And you are not broken.
Neurodivergent people and highly sensitive people often come to counselling not because something is wrong with them, but because they have been trying to fit into a world that was not designed with them in mind. That takes a toll. Counselling can offer a space to understand yourself better, to acknnowledge all your masks, and to find your own way of being in the world.
I am also experienced in working with perfectionism and passive-aggressive behaviour, both of which are often closely connected to neurodivergent experiences and high sensitivity.

SPECIALIST NEURODIVERSITY COUNSELLING IN NAIRN AND ONLINE
I work with how you think, not against it.
Person-centred counselling is, in many ways, a natural fit for neurodivergent clients. There is no agenda, no fixed structure, no right way to do it. The sessions are led by you. We go at your pace, in whatever direction feels most useful.
I understand that many neurodivergent people and highly sensitive people have had experiences in life, in education, at work, in relationships, where they have been made to feel like the problem. Counselling with me is not about fixing you. It’s about understanding you, and helping you find a way to live that works for who you actually are.
Whether you have a formal diagnosis or you simply recognise yourself in the descriptions, you are welcome here.
Sessions are 50 minutes, available in person at my counselling bothy near Nairn, online, or by telephone. I work with clients across Scotland and the UK. Fees are £40 to £55 on a sliding scale.
I trained at the University of the Highlands and Islands and am a registered member of both BACP and COSCA.
Neurodiversity counselling wherever you are in the UK.
Online and telephone counselling can be particularly well suited to neurodivergent clients. It removes the sensory demands of travelling to an unfamiliar space, allows you to be in an environment you have control over, and gives you the flexibility to access support in a way that works for how you operate.
I work with clients online across the whole of the UK. Sessions are available Monday to Friday, 10am to 8.30pm.

High sensitivity, sometimes referred to as being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), means you process information more deeply and are more affected by your environment, other people’s emotions, and sensory input. It is not a disorder. Counselling can help you understand your sensitivity and work with it rather than against it.

Yes, counselling can offer is a space to explore how ADHD affects your life, your relationships, and your sense of self, and to develop a more compassionate understanding of how your mind works. Counselling offers a space free of judgement of how your mind works so if you naturally bounce from topic to topic, that is absolutely fine with me. My role is to follow where you lead and help you find the patterns and make sense of your busy brain.

Masking is when neurodivergent people suppress or camouflage their natural traits in order to fit in. It is exhausting and often leads to burnout, anxiety, and a loss of sense of self. Counselling can provide a space where you don’t have to mask, and where we can explore what it means to be more fully yourself.

Yes. Perfectionism is often driven by anxiety, shame, or a deep fear of failure. It can feel like a strength but frequently becomes a barrier. Counselling can help you understand where your perfectionism comes from and find a more sustainable way of operating.
