TRAUMA AND ABUSE COUNSELLING

Whatever happened to you, you don’t have to carry it alone. Trauma counselling with Pamela Muir, available in person in Nairn and online across the UK.

Trauma counselling for what you’ve been through.

Trauma is not a weakness. It is a normal human response to abnormal experiences. When something overwhelming happens, the mind and body do what they can to survive it. But sometimes those survival responses stay switched on long after the danger has passed, and that’s when life can start to feel very difficult.

You might be struggling with memories that won’t leave you alone, feelings you can’t explain, or a sense that you’re just not coping the way you used to. You might not even be sure whether what happened to you counts as trauma. It counts.

AREAS OF SPECIALIST SUPPORT

No shame. No agenda. Just a conversation.

I offer trauma counselling and abuse support across a wide range of experiences. You’re welcome to come and talk without having all the words yet.

  • Trauma

  • Complex PTSD

  • PTSD

  • Domestic abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Physical abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Narcissistic abuse

  • Abandonment issues

If your experience isn’t on that list, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter. If it’s affected you, it’s worth talking about.

Viktor E. Frankl

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Specialist Trauma Counselling in Nairn and Online

I’m here to listen, not to tell you what to feel.

Trauma work takes time and it takes trust. I will never push you to go somewhere you’re not ready to go. My approach is person-centred, which means we work at your pace, in the direction that feels right for you.

I understand that talking about traumatic experiences can feel frightening, and that sometimes you might not even know where to begin. That’s okay. We start wherever you are. What matters is that you feel safe, heard, and not judged. Whatever you bring to the room, I’m not going anywhere.

If you have experienced abuse of any kind, I want you to know that what happened was not your fault. Counselling can help you begin to make sense of your experience, reclaim your sense of self, and find your own meaning on the other side of it.

Sessions are 50 minutes, available in person at my counselling bothy near Nairn, online, or by telephone. I work with clients across Scotland and the UK. Fees are £40 to £55 on a sliding scale.

I trained at the University of the Highlands and Islands and am a registered member of both BACP and COSCA.
